Our next home football game is coming up on Friday, October 2nd. Students can either ride a bus from MVHS to and from McKenzie stadium or they can meet the band at McKenzie and provide their own transportation. If students are riding the bus to the game, they need to be at MVHS in full uniform at 3:15pm. If they are getting themselves to McKenzie stadium, they need to be there in full uniform at 3:45pm. The game should end around 7:30pm, but reminders to contact home will be made at the beginning of the 4th quarter so that you know approximately when the game will be over. We will be doing a head count Thursday in class on the number of students on the bus to help us with planning – please discuss this with your student tonight!
Students need to have their full uniform (black socks and shoes), instrument, lyre and flip folder for the game. We have parent volunteers who will provide water for them at the game and supervise. If you are interested in volunteering at any games as a chaperone or equipment mover, please volunteer on the charms calendar by clicking on the rainbow colored hand.
If you have any questions about the football games, please don’t hesitate to ask!

A note from our head uniform mom regarding uniform care:
1. If they get wet, please keep them out of the garment bags and set them out until they dry completely. I would hate for them to get smelly and moldy this early in the year... or ever.
2. If the hems are dragging, the first line of defense is to raise the suspenders so they are off the ground when standing in stocking feet. If the pants are still too long, please hem the pants to keep the hems from being torn or damaged. We have many pants that are just shredded on the bottom because they were worn too long. Please protect the material on the hems. If you have trouble with hemming, let the uniform parent know.
3. If the buttons or snaps fall off the uniform, please save the button/snap and sew it on or let the uniform parent know. We have some extra buttons and snaps if the part gets lost, but it is best to find the original button. DO NOT sew on a button that does not match, for the uniform parent needs to remove the button and sew a new one on anyway, so please save her the trouble. Use a large safety pin until we can get a new button sewn on.
4. Many of the side adjustment zippers and snaps no longer work on the marching pants, please just safety pin the side close if this is the case.

Join us for our final concert of the year June 2, 2015 at 7pm MVHS Auditorium
We would like to emphasize the immense significance of this concert. Our Mountain View Wind Ensemble, one of the best in the nation, will be the first high school to ever perform Maslanka's beautiful and emotive Symphony No. 9 in its entirety. Please come and support all the hard work that my fellow musicians and I have put into this piece! You will also be able to fully experience the music in the presence of David Maslanka himself!!

There are numerous events throughout the year that require parent help to be successful. We ask that all parents sign up for at least one event throughout the year. Volunteering opportunities are listed in Charms under "Calendar".
To volunteer, parents must first be cleared through the district. Clearance packet available here.
