What is charms?
Charmsoffice.com is a website that the directors and band boosters use to share information with the program. On it, you can find an events calendar, sheet music for pep band and auditions, various recordings, and other useful information like contact info for the directors and booster officials.
What is my charms password?
Your charms password is the your student ID number. It can be found on your Mountain View ID card. If this number does not work, try removing the initial zeroes in the number.
How do I access my fundraised money?
Your funds are kept track of through your charms account, and you can view them by logging in with your student ID number. To access your funds for any music-related purpose, email [email protected] and specify the amount of money you need and what purpose you need it for. For example: if you have $25 you have fundraised that you would like to go toward your fair share payment, send an email with this amount specifying that is for fair share. This payment will be taken care of and you can put the remainder of your payment in the money box in the band room as you usually would.
What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a personal fundraiser where you can sell gift cards to various stores and restaurants and a percentage of each card bought goes to your personal music funds. More information can be found on the SCRIP tab of this website including the forms to order the cards.
What needs to be turned in at the beginning of the year?
The band handbook, ASB forms, and fair share payment. Refer to informational videos on how to do these assignments.
How do I access audition material/pep band music?
Music can be printed from the “files & handouts” tab on Charms. From there you can just choose which instrument, and which specific handout you need.
What is solo/ensemble?
Solo ensemble is a district-wide competition where you can go and perform a solo with an accompanist or a chamber group piece. It’s a good way to improve your playing as a soloist or an individual and even gives you a chance to compete in the state-wide competition.
What honor bands can I participate in?
District Honor Band auditions take place in October. Later in the year, there is also the Pacific Lutheran University honor band (entry by nomination), the All State Band, and the All Northwest Band (both entry by recorded audition).
How can I find a private teacher?
Many private teachers can be found through Beacock’s and Rivercity music stores. For more suggestions, ask your section leader, as they will have a more concise list.
What is jazz band?
Jazz band is a class that takes place during zero period (starting at 6:20am) and how many days a week depends on which band you’re in. There are two levels of jazz bands, Jazz 1 and Jazz 2. Entry into both is by audition. Both jazz bands compete in various competitions throughout the year and perform at additional concerts.
How do I audition for jazz band?
Auditions are held in the very beginning of the year. There is usually one or two preparatory rehearsals before the audition, and then you will sign up for a time slot at one of those preparatory rehearsals.
