Bruce B. Dunn
Bruce B. Dunn is an accomplished freelance trumpeter and principal trumpet for the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, a position he’s held for 18 years. He holds performance degrees from both Washington State University (Bachelor of Music cum laude) and Portland State (Master of Music).
He regularly performs in groups across the region including the Portland Opera, Columbia Symphony Orchestra, Portland Chamber Orchestra, the Big Horn Brass Ensemble, Portland Festival Symphony and many others. In addition to performing, Mr. Dunn is a National Board Certified Teacher currently employed by Evergreen Public Schools as the Director of Bands at Covington Middle School.
Yaphet Jones
Yaphet Jones recently relocated to Vancouver, Washington after 22 years of active service in the United States Marine Corps. During his duration of active service, he attained the highest enlisted rank possible of Master Gunnery Sergeant and concluded his service to our country as the Bandmaster of the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band in San Diego, California. Prior to enlisting in the Marine Corps, he was a music performance major at Southern Illinois University and at the Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia.
Mr. Jones has an impressive list of accomplishments and experiences that extend over 25 years as a professional musician. His experiences (to name a few) include: Instrumentalist and Soloist with United States Marine Corps Bands as well as, performances with the Pacific Symphony, San Diego Symphony, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Chamber Brass and the Inland Symphony. Upon arrival in the NW, Mr. Jones has performed with the Vancouver Symphony and the Southwest Washington Wind Symphony.
James O’Banion
James O’Banion has had a diverse and distinguished musical career to date. A performer, clinician and adjudicator and highly regarded as a public school arts’ administrator, his expertise is sought after to guide students, educators and school districts.
Mr. O’Banion received his Bachelor of Music Education from Washington State University and his Masters in Trumpet Performance with Distinction from Indiana University. His principal teacher was the late and distinguished William A. Adam.
Along with ongoing and numerous professional playing experiences, ranging from classical to commercial, Mr.O’Banion is the adjunct professor of Trumpet for Lewis and Clark College as well as, Lower Columbia Community College.
