About the Percussion Program

This class is open to new and experienced percussionists alike. All percussionists should sign up for this class instead of a concert band. In this class students will learn a variety of percussion skills including, concert and rudimentary percussion. This class will form the MVHS Percussion Ensemble and the MVHS Drum Line which perform frequently throughout the year. Students in the percussion class perform with the concert bands, marching band at home football games, and at music festivals and competitions throughout the year.

Wind Ensemble

This class is by audition only and works exclusively with the Wind Ensemble during the 2nd period Wind Ensemble class.

Percussion Needs

Percussion students need to start their own stick bags
and include the following materials:

Needed immediately:    
1 pair Vic Firth SD1 (snare sticks)
1 practice pad (12” Real Feel Practice Pad)
1 stick bag
2 pair Innovative Percussion IP240 Marimba mallets
1 black hand towel

These materials can generally be found at Beacock Music or River City Music
